BORDERLINES XV: Living on the Edge: Vision, Imagination, Inspiration
INTERDISCIPLINARY POSTGRADUATE CONFERENCE IN MEDIEVAL STUDIES
UNIVERSITY COLLEGE CORK
APRIL 15th-17th , 2011

This conference welcomes papers from early-stage researchers from all areas of Medieval and Renaissance Studies including archaeology, art, history, languages, literature, manuscript studies, music and philosophy.

Borderlines XV seeks papers exploring the use of vision, imagination and inspiration in the texts and material culture of the medieval and early modern periods. In keeping with the traditions of the conference, papers that are concerned with the development and revision of contemporaneous perceptions of vision, imagination, and inspiration, and current scholarship in related areas, are welcome.

Papers on, but not restricted to, the following topics are welcome:

Inspiration: divine, secular, literary.

Imagination: deployment, expression, conceptualisation, representation.

Vision: spiritual, prophetic, political, physical, metaphysical.

The conference will be held in UCC’s historical Quadrangle from April 15th – 17th 2011.

Proposals of 200 words for a 15-minute paper, with 10-minutes allowed for questions and discussion at the end of each panel, should be submitted by Friday February 25th 2011 by email to borderlinesxv@gmail.com.
